GA State Militia
Emergency Communication Net
Note (Jan 2018) - We are in receive mode only at this time while we are updating equipment. If an emergency should occur, transmitters will be brought back online for 2-way communication. Any received messages will still be forwarded to the desired parties if received during this maintenance period.
As of March 2017, we are maintaining an HF 40M digital net for sending and receiving Radiograms and messages, both emergency and routine. We are on (or about) the frequency of 7.1235 MHz at 1000Hz on the waterfall and use THOR16 as the default digital mode using QRP power (about 4-6 watts). NVIS antennas are utilized to cover the State and most of the SE. Beacons are sent occasionally during daylight hours with a banner transmitted a few times a day on most days (as band use permits). Email type messages are accepted using FLARQ.
At this time, two stations are active most all of the time with a third station anticipated in the near future.
We invite other militia groups and/or amateur operators to listen in or join the net to insure complete coverage of the State of Georgia and surrounding areas in case of emergency or disaster. Simply transmitting your call sign as a log-in to the net will let us know that you can receive our signals. If you have traffic, simply connect on the beacon frequency using FLARQ within FLDIGI and leave an email or immediate message. A reply will be sent as soon as possible, if required. Visit the Contact Us page to ask questions or any other inquiry.
